Paschim Medinipur
Paschim Medinipur is best known for two GI-tagged folk crafts: Patachitra scroll paintings made with natural pigments by the patuas of Naya village in Pingla block, and Madhur Kathi (madur/masland) grass mats woven in Sabang and nearby blocks. Its food side is anchored by Kharagpur railway station's samosas and aloo khasa, the pithas of Medinipur town, and the district's paddy fields around Ghatal and Chandrakona that make it a major rice-growing district of West Bengal.
