Paschim Bardhaman, West Bengal
Aman & Boro Paddy (local rice)
Paddy is the staple crop of Paschim Bardhaman, with both kharif (Aman) and summer (Boro) rice grown across the district's Durgapur agricultural subdivision. Farming households in the district's agri-food system cultivate rice as their main crop along with mustard, lentils and rui fish. The rice feeds the district's large urban population of Asansol-Durgapur. Buyers get fresh local paddy and milled local rice straight from the producing subdivision.
Typical price: ₹2500-4500 per quintal at farm/mandi gate, season dependent
Buying tip: Buy during the harvest season at the mandis of Durgapur subdivision when local supply peaks and prices are lowest; check moisture and cleanliness before buying in bulk.
