Jalpaiguri
Jalpaiguri is a fertile North Bengal district in the Himalayan foothills, best known for its GI-tagged Kalo Nunia 'Prince of Rice' aromatic paddy, the famous 'Dooars Tea' grown across the district's sprawling Dooars-Terai tea estates, and traditional cane, bamboo, jute and wooden crafts sold as souvenirs in its bazaar towns. Malbazar and the Dooars towns have historically been trade centres for tea, paddy and livestock, and the district's markets remain the main place where these products are bought.
