Jhargram Mustard Oil
Food
Confidence: high
Mustard (along with sesame) is one of the two main oilseeds of Jhargram district, sown in the Rabi season across the alluvial and red-laterite soils of the Jangal Mahal region. The pressed oil is the everyday cooking oil of the district and is traded in the local mandis. For a buyer, Jhargram mustard oil is a regional smallholder oil with the characteristic pungency of Bengal mustard.
Typical price: ₹120-200/litre
Buying tip: Check the live Jhargram mandi mustard-oil rate before buying in bulk; unbranded local oil is cheapest in the paddy-mustard season when fresh pressing is available.
