Jhargram
Jhargram, the latest district of West Bengal carved from Paschim Medinipur in 2017, sits in the Jangal Mahal region and is a rice-jute belt district where tribal (Santal, Munda, Lodha) agriculture and craft traditions dominate. It is known for the revival of indigenous organic paddy — black Kalabhat, brown Mallifullo and red Sathia rice — grown by the Aamon women's farmer producer company in Nayagram block, along with jute and mustard, plus a distinctive cluster of tribal handicrafts: bamboo and cane weaving, earthy terracotta, Babui rope work and the folk reed-pipe instruments of Santal music.
