Gorubathan estate tea
Black tea grown on the six tea estates of Kalimpong district - Samabeong, Upper Fagu, Lower Fagu, Kumai, Ambiok and Mission Hill - all located in the Gorubathan development block, confirmed by the district's own tea garden record. Heritage estates such as the Fagu Tea Estate and the Gorubathan estate bungalow run factory tours where visitors watch plucked leaf be processed and can taste and buy estate-grown tea. The teas come from the same Himalayan belt as GI-tagged Darjeeling tea. Buyers get estate-fresh leaf and finished tea straight from the factory gate.
Typical price: ₹300-1500
Buying tip: Buy 100-250 g packs at the estate tea factory shops in the Gorubathan block (Upper/Lower Fagu, Kumai) during a tea garden tour; estate-fresh tea is cheaper and fresher than packed town brands.
