Malda Khirsapati (Himsagar) Mango
A GI-tagged mango variety grown across Malda's orchards, popularly known as Himsagar and regarded as one of India's finest mangoes. It is especially known for its unique sweetness and fibre-free yellow-to-orange pulp, and was one of three Bengal mangoes granted GI protection in 2008. India Post even issued a special cover for it, and Malda orchards and traders ship it in export boxes to multiple countries. Buyers get fruit in orchard or GI-labeled export cartons during the March–May peak season.
Typical price: ₹250-4000
Buying tip: Buy in March–May when the fruit is fully ripe, and choose smooth, waxen-skinned fruit from English Bazar traders or orchard exporters. Look for the fibre-free pulp and a clean, unblemished peel — the classic Himsagar signature.
