Agriculture
Confidence: high
A GI-tagged, thin-skinned, melt-in-the-mouth mango often compared with Alphonso and considered the crown jewel of Malda's early season. It is sold in large volumes from orchards and town markets and is a signature gift of the district. It was one of the three Malda mango varieties granted GI protection in 2008. Buyers can get it in orchard boxes or market cartons from April to May.
Typical price: ₹200-2500
Buying tip: Buy in April–May when the fruit is firm but fragrant; the skin is thin and bruises easily, so handle orchard boxes gently and eat within a couple of days.
