Bankura is famous for its GI-tagged terracotta craft centred on Panchmura, best known for the long-necked Bankura horse, which is the emblem of All India Handicrafts. The historic town of Bishnupur adds GI-tagged Baluchari silk sarees, GI-tagged motichur laddu, Swarnachari zari silk and a living terracotta heritage, while the village of Bikna produces GI-tagged Bengal Dokra metalwork. Together these make Bankura one of West Bengal's richest districts for buyable crafts and sweets.
